Roundhouse Environmental Community

This initiative has evolved from over 20 years of environmental protection events and concerts held primarily in Edinburgh, Scotland. These were in support of a number of local and international environmental charities, involving schoolchildren and members of the community. Previous events have covered a wide range of topics such as Bumble Bee, Marine and Forest conservation and protection.

R.E.C. is a community-based, peaceful and non-religious initiative; bringing people of all backgrounds together, to reconnect with each other, and our struggling environment. We aim to be an outlet for the anxiety many of us feel in response to media coverage about our environmental crisis. We offer an opportunity for people to come together under one roof, to feel part of a traditional community, helping to inspire positive action.

We organise regular meetings, inviting guest speakers to talk about their environmental protection work. The audience is welcomed after the talk to participate in the discussion, with the aim of how our community can make positive changes on our own doorsteps. These events are punctuated with poetry and live music and are enjoyable for the whole family. 

 

Meetings will be held in church halls, public halls and outdoors. We welcome people of all ages and walks of life.
